The newly elected CCVT Board had its initial meeting early in June. One of its first task was to elect office bearers. Milton Oliver (Roxburgh Park/Wallan) was elected Chair and Loris McLean (Living Faith, Greensborough) was elected Deputy Chair.
The Board also approved the formation of the following Committees: Ministry Professional Standards, Nominations, Governance and Board Development, Finance and Audit, Properties and Asset Management, Risk Management, and Remuneration.
Ministers Remuneration Review
The Board also resolved to conduct a review of the process of determining the Recommended Minimum Remuneration Package for People in Ministry in CCVT, as well as the actual elements of the Package. A panel will be appointed to undertake this review will comprise a representative group of ministers, treasurers or administrators, and CCVT staff with a view to bringing a report and any recommendations by September 30, 2016.
This review has been called in response to feedback we receive from churches (usually treasurers and ministers) about the Recommended Package. Themes have included the ‘blanket’ nature of the recommendation, with no apparent consideration of variations evident between metropolitan and regional, and Tasmania and Victoria; the ‘Levels’ schedule, and the benchmarking process and comparisons. Usually there has been little reaction to the actual increase.
