CCVT endorses people for ministry on the recommendations that come from Ministry Discernment Panels. These panels may include lay leaders, a representative of the training body where the candidate is a student, CCVT staff members, experienced ministers & psychologists. The panels meet with candidates in November each year for interviews & discussion around assessments prepared by the candidate & the candidate’s worshipping community & supervisor. It is a rigorous process.
Ministry Discernment Panels usually meet in November each year. Not everyone who is in the Endorsement process is invited to panels each year. You may be invited to attend panels if you are ready for a Process Review, Provisional Endorsement or Endorsement or if a previous panel suggested you return to a subsequent panel.
The process is conducted carefully & prayerfully. Candidates find that gifts for ministry are identified & strengthened, learning tasks are identified, & spiritual growth is enhanced. It is a searching & intensely personal review, yet it is not a test but an opportunity for candidates & CCVT to discern the voice of God through the wider Churches of Christ community of faith. It is an investment by CCVT in the mutual ministry of believers.
When you are invited to panel you will need to prepare materials. Subsequent to the panel you will receive feedback in writing covering, findings, recommendations for areas of development, and endorsement status, where relevant.
