Flood Recovery Update Stories
Stawell
“Recently Stawell Church of Christ received $500 towards flood recovery in the community. It was used to replace the engine of the wood splitter, which has been a great ministry of care to a number of people in rural areas.
As a further act if community service, we felt prompted to contribute $500 to Stawell Regional Arts' bringing the Australian Men's Welsh Choir for a free concert.”

Echuca
Thank you on behalf of the Echuca Church of Christ for the flood assistance that was received in March.
The leadership team decided the best use of the funds was to give it to a couple who live on a small property 10km south of Echuca. In January the Campase River broke its banks flooding much of the surrounding farmland. This is the same river that inundated Rochester 15km downstream. Government assistance was helpful in the region, but not all qualified for an assistance grant and so missed out completely. Subsequently many property owners were left will repair bills in the thousands of dollars.
The couple we thought could use the support were in this situation, having essential channelling severely damaged in places by the sheer volume of water flowing through as well as some fencing damaged by floating debris such as logs and various household items from downstream. The property owner was quite speechless at the offer (for a number of days apparently) and accepted the gift with much appreciation. We also are planning to help clean up some fencing by removing matted grass etc. in the coming weeks.
Thank you again that we were able to offer some assistance on behalf of Churches of Christ in Victoria Tasmania.
Pastor Stephen Maggs, Echuca Church of Christ
