FRESH Youth Theatre Nov 2011
‘FRESH’ 10 year Gala Performance
On Saturday 12 November FRESH Youth Theatre will celebrate 10 years with a Gala performance and dinner, rumor has it that the Mayor of Whitehorse will star in the performance!
FRESH Youth Theatre began in 2001 with 3 young people and 2 young youth workers passionate about engaging young people through the supportive nature of creative arts. Over the past 10 years, FRESH has performed over 20 original scripts and engaged with hundreds of young people.
Recently FRESH was awarded both the City of Whitehorse Excellence in Business Community Award and the City of Whitehorse Mayoral Award 2011. This is a huge encouragement and affirmation but also opened up new doors of coaching, support and publicity.
FRESH is specifically aimed at secondary school aged young people throughout Victoria and aims to provide a forum for self-expression and social engagement. The FRESH program acknowledges the needs of young people through utilising the supportive nature of creative arts in promoting resilience, empowerment, personal growth, positive self-esteem and a sense of belonging.
There is a strong ethos inherent in every FRESH program created. FRESH was founded on the strong belief that effective, resilient and healthy young people are an integral asset to every community. The leadership of FRESH believe in connecting, supporting and building positive relationships with young people. It is because of this belief that the FRESH program has the ability to transform the lives of young people by providing them with the resources within themselves to go out and live amazing, positive and effective lives.
