From GMP's In Partnership newsletter, April.
“So at the moment I really don't understand what it means to listen to God; I don't know if it's sitting down and being silent waiting for something or is it just reading his word or is it being open to change throughout your day and the steps that God wants you to take?”
So often prayer takes a back seat in our lives. We know we should do it, and that we need to do it, but we just put it on the backburner. Personally, I know that I often say, “I’ll be praying for you” almost as a pleasantry, but I find myself forgetting completely. It is almost as if it is unimportant, or that I just find it too difficult to pray, or I just feel like I don’t know what to say! It is something that I know I struggle with and plenty of others do to. This is why Prayer Matters exists. So often it can be hard to know where to start praying for others, for yourself and for God’s Kingdom. I think sometimes we overcomplicate prayer. So this year we are taking a step back to look at what it means to join together and effectively pray for our world and our communities, and we are going back to basics. It is a great opportunity to reconnect with God, listen to him and what he has to say.
We encourage you to sign up, no matter what your prayer life is like, because it is always good to get back to basics and rethink the way in which we pray. Head to embody.org.au/prayer-matters-2016 to sign up and join with the embody community today!
