The CCVT Board announced some weeks ago that it had appointed a new Executive Officer. The name of the new appointee needed to be kept confidential until now, as they needed to inform their people and current employer of their decision and give adequate notice.
We are now pleased to be able to inform you that the new Executive Officer for CCVT is Dr Robert Nyhuis. Some of you will already know Rob, who has just received his PhD from University of Divinity Stirling Theological College where his studies were supervised by Dr Andrew Menzies and Dr Alan Niven.
Rob has a strong track record in mission and ministry, strategic leadership and church planting. He will leave his post as Senior Minister of the South Eastern Christian Centre (Endeavour Hills and Pakenham Campuses) after more than nine years overseeing a congregation of 750 members and 250 community contacts. Rob has a long association with the CRC movement where he is a highly respected apostolic leader. Prior to ministry he was a teacher at two significant Christian schools.
The CCVT Board undertook an exhaustive search process with the assistance of a Human Resources and Recruiting firm that worked to a specific brief. Many expressions of interest were vetted and, of the final three candidates, Rob was the clear standout. The Board were quite prepared to continue the search process if no suitable candidate was found. Fortunately, God brought Rob and the Board together after this careful process and we did not need to keep looking. The Board, to a person, is prayerfully convinced that Rob is the person to lead CCVT and build on the significant reforms of the last few years, and really focus our movement onto strategic and effective missional priorities. Rob is very aware of the challenges ahead. The Board has been frank with him, and he with the Board. Rob will be spending time getting to know people and evaluating our systems and so on in the first months of his 5-year tenure. Following this phase gradual changes will be made in order to bring our whole movement onto a strong missional footing. There will be challenging times ahead of us in this diverse movement we love, but there will be exciting times of harvest, too.
Rob will come on board with CCVT at the Summit and AGM in May where we will introduce him and he can meet you. A reminder to register now at churchesofchrist.org.au/summit
On behalf of the CCVT Board I would like to thank the churches for their patience and prayerful good will during this process – we have received much support. I would also like to thank, on your behalf, David Ratten who has been our interim Executive Officer between appointments – who has not just been holding the fort, so to speak, but actively engaging with the Board and staff on very important issues.
We commend Dr Robert Nyhuis to you all, and ask that you would be in prayerful support as he begins a new season of ministry with CCVT.
CCVT Board Chair
