After a period of reflection and some honest, frank assessments of our position this year, the decision has been made that Illuminate 2017 will not go ahead.
The Youth Vision team is taking this as opportunity to seriously lean into how God is leading us in the current year and the current ministry climate. We want to be responsive to the changing needs of ministries across Victoria and Tasmania, and we realised that the Illuminate project cannot be genuinely refreshed and re-imagined if we are still trying to run the program each year—we can't improve a car's engine without taking it off the road for a time.
This marks the close of a significant chapter in the history of YV camping, and in the lives of many young people and leaders. We know that Illuminate has been an important part of the faith formation for many young people over the years, and an important ministry platform for communities around Victoria. It is important to the YV team to honour this legacy, and to make sure that future projects provide similar opportunities for young people and leaders to grow.
This decision has not been made lightly, but has been made with a great deal of anticipation as to where God will lead us next. The first step for exploring how God is planning to use Youth Vision is to converse with all of you—leaders in CCVT's affiliated Communities of Hope and Compassion—as to what you need from Youth Vision now and into the future. Where is God at work in your ministries, and how can Youth Vision come alongside to provide you with resources and support?
Below is a link to a short online survey that will form the first step in ongoing conversations that will shape the future of YV projects in this area. We would greatly value your input to shape our projects into the future.
