CCVT Inc to Opt In to National Redress Scheme

Thursday, 22 November 2018

Dear Affiliates,

The National Redress Scheme provides acknowledgement and support to people who experienced institutional child sexual abuse. It was created by the Australian Government in response to recommendations by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, which estimated that 60,000 people experienced institutional child sexual abuse in Australia.

We are pleased to announce that Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania Inc has internally agreed to participate in the Scheme and is actively engaged in the onboarding process.

On 1 November 2018, the CCVT Inc Board formally resolved to act as Representative for any Affiliates who wish to join as part of the CCVT Participating Group. CCVT Inc will also represent any defunct churches or agencies as part of this group.

It is our hope that every Affiliate that is part of our movement will join as an expression of our commitment to being safe places of hope and compassion.

If you have any questions about how CCVT and Affiliates will interact with the Scheme now and in the future, please visit or contact the CCVT Safe Places Coordinator Kylie Kendall at or on 0411 255 494.

For more information on the Board’s decision to opt CCVT into the Scheme, please contact the CCVT Board via Claire Egan at
