From the Board

Monday, 10 December 2018

The recent CCVT Board meeting offered an opportunity to welcome and hear from Gavin Thompson and Geoff Morffew, our Tasmanian representatives. We expressed our appreciation to them for their wonderful service in recent years. A decision was also taken to implement a Board governance review over the next few months, enabling Board operations to be optimised.

The Board also reflected upon the desire of the National Council to establish a clearer understanding of what it means to serve together as Churches of Christ, while respecting the interdependent autonomy of each state and its churches. An older publication, What Churches of Christ can say Together, is available for reflection, as your thoughts and feedback would be welcomed in considering this balance further and the way that it impacts upon our unique identity as a movement. This Council of Churches of Christ in Australia (CCCA) meeting was held at Fremantle and the ten representatives enjoyed a time of healthy and positive interaction, inclusive of important business matters connected with the operations of each state.

Rob would like to thank our CCVT Board members who have all worked hard throughout 2018. He has especially appreciated their support in his first six months as EO. We trust that you will continue to pray for these people in support of their important role: Milton Oliver (chair), Caroline Young, Esther Kirkpatrick, David Wells, Aaron Mitchell, Rick Wright, Brandon Howard, and Tim Keating.
