Over the next couple of months we will be piloting some support for churches which will take the form of a four-day intensive visit, followed by up to a year of coaching support. The aim is to target key areas of potential growth unique to the relevant congregation. Places will be limited, but we are interested in engaging with more churches to resource better mission outcomes, so let us know if you might be interested by emailing email@example.com.
We are also keen to offer a separate coaching arrangement that will help to produce and disciple new Christians. This will also be offered to a further initial group of seven churches willing to engage in a regular online environment throughout 2019. In addition, options for more traditional coaching arrangements will focus on growth, but also equip ministers to become better trained as coaches for their own congregation members. We are hoping to subsidise such arrangements, and would be keen to hear initially from senior ministers wishing to access any coaching support. This coaching will be in addition to the ministry supervision arrangements already in place.
Over this past month, I have been connecting with many ministers through regional gatherings and visits to congregations. I would love to get some dates in the diary for the summer and for 2019, so would be happy to hear from churches about ways I could best help within weekend services. As a former senior minister and denominational ministry trainer, it is important to see our churches receiving as much help as possible with the challenging, and sometimes complex, task of winning people to Christ and leading community discipleship.
Let’s be praying for our nation, too. The number of Prime Ministers that have emerged to lead us in recent years has been unsettling to many, but Colossians 1:16 reminds us that earthly powers are created through God and for him, just as 1 Timothy 2:2 asks us to be in prayer for our civic leaders. We live in exciting times where the church can rise in confidence to make a difference as we shape our future together.
