Living Faith Church (LFC) is a co-operating church with affiliations to Churches of Christ and The Uniting Church, located in Greensborough, Victoria. Living Faith Church was formed over 12 years ago when the Greensborough Uniting Church and Greensborough Church of Christ agreed to meet together. Now mature in our co-operation, we are looking to where God is calling us next as one unified church.
LFC is a multigenerational community committed to expressing and living out God’s love in our neighbourhood. We are shaped by the message and life of Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Spirit to encounter and serve others.
Our churches have a rich history of almost 170 years in the Greensborough area, which urges us to continue being an expression of the presence God in this community. As a cooperating community, a variety of theological perspectives are evident in our church. Our identity is formed by the belief that in our diversity we have strong unity in God, drawn together in and around the person of Jesus.
Our vision is to see Everyone Closer to God. We want to see all people drawing closer to God, and we endeavour to fulfil that in our community and neighbourhood. Our expectation is that We’ll become more like Jesus together. We see the future of our community defined by gathering closer to God, and being transformed by Christ’s example. We believe this is a journey we take together as one body, not only as individuals, and only happens through the power of the Spirit.
At LFC we welcome all those who wish to follow Jesus. We value the contribution and participation of all members to the life of LFC. As a community we seek opportunities to deepen our relationship with God and with one another. We value preaching and teaching, and see the Bible as central to our lives. We wish to express our love for God through authentic worship, and by reaching out to others with compassion. Mission is integral to the expression of faith in our church, and we are committed to living out our faith in Jesus Christ beyond Sunday mornings. We believe prayer sustains us, and that listening to the guidance of God’s spirit is vital to our ministry. We want to see everyone come closer to God - from hearing the gospel for the first time to deepening life-long faith journeys.
A deep heart for mission underpins the life of LFC – calling us to model the love of Jesus in many ways. We are engaged in many missional expressions in our church, our neighbourhood and beyond. We view ourselves as a part of a broader Christian community, and as an active part of our local neighbourhood.
The Agape Christian Church (Chinese language) also meets in our facilities and we are exploring more ways we can meet and serve with this community.
We take seriously our role as an intergenerational community, and believe God’s call is relevant across generations. We strive to continue improving the ways we are a accessible for people of all ages. We believe the body of Christ is enriched by diversity, and seek to intentionally build ways to grow in faith by listening and contributing together as people of all ages.
Traditionally we have employed two Ministers, one from each denomination. We currently employ a Minister (Worship) with a UCA background. The Minister (Worship) is the Team Leader of our paid ministry staff. As we live out this new vision, we are seeking an Minister (Discipleship) with a heart and passion to call people into a relationship with Christ, and to walk alongside them as they come closer to God. LFC is overseen by a Church Council of Elders (for spiritual discernment and governance) in conjunction with the Ministers. The ministers are highly valued and appreciated for their leadership and oversight, and they actively partner with the church in its ministry and mission. We are diversifying the structure of our ministry staff to allow a key focus on discipleship going forward.
We are excited about the future that we believe God is leading us into. We are also excited to welcome an Minister (Discipleship) with a passion to bring people of all ages closer to God to work alongside our Minister (Worship).
