Training

Are your leaders trained and equipped to ensure your community is a safe place for everyone?

CCVT recommends that all leaders and volunteers including pastors, elders, deacons, leadership teams, ministry leaders, pastoral carers and those working with children and youth attend a Safe Church Awareness Workshop as a minimum training requirement for doing ministry.

Topics include:

  • Foundations and principles of a safe church
  • Protecting vulnerable people—definitions, indicators, and response procedures
  • Information about training, recruiting, and supervising safe leaders
  • How to establish and run safe environments for church ministry programs

This full day workshop is facilitated by trained presenters, hosted by local churches, and attendance is recognised by members of the National Council of Churches in Australia Safe Church Training Agreement.

See below for workshops hosted by CCVT Affiliates.  For a full list of all available workshops in Vic/Tas go to the NCCA calendar.

If you would like more information, or are interested in hosting a workshop at your church, please contact Kylie Kendall,  Safe Places Coordinator, at safeplaces@churchesofchrist.org.au or call 03 9488 8800.

Child Protection & Protective Behaviours Training Workshop

One in four children in Australia will be sexually abused before they turn 18, and most of these children will never speak about it. As such, child protection workshops have become a basic essential for all those who work with or care for children and young people.

Churches must be at the forefront of child protection. As set out in the Bible it is part of God’s plan that we care for and protect children from harm and this professional learning will prepare participants to do just that.
